Buyer Beware: lasts less than an ultra cheap model

I bought the LG 50 pint dehumidifier with WiFi and pump. Worked great for 2 and half years and now the humidity sensor doesnt work and so it thinks theres no need to dehumidify a room with 70RH cause the unit is stuck on a reading of 30. Called customer service and they said that LG doesnt stand behind their product and that I need to cover the replacement repair cost. This was not a cheap dehumidifier but one I paid over $450 dollars for. Last LG product I will buy.

Like other reviewers our $450 LG dehumidifier has given up the ghost after three seasons. Totally unacceptable for what should have been a premium product from a once respectable brand sold at top dollar prices. LG has added all the bells and whistles but failed the first step of developing products that last. 15 years ago a dehumidifier would last 7-8 years. Today they are disposable junk.

After just 3 years of use It collects thick frost on the fins. I am very displeased with this LG product. Just 3 years of a high end product is unacceptable

Worked until it didnt :

I purchased this unit in June 2022 as an upgrade to a different brand that had failed within a year of use. It worked great in 2022/2023 but failed this year. The unit still powers on successfully and all the controls are operable but within the first several hours of operation it develops a sheet of ice along the bottom of the coil fins and stops removing moisture from the air. This is far too expensive of an appliance to fail within 2 years of limited use so I suggest you look elsewhere.

Unit Icing up and leaking after 3 years

I purchased this unit 3 years ago and it worked great up until now. The unit is now icing up on the bottom 1/3 of the coils and is leaking water all over the floor. The air filter and coils are clean and the fan is producing good airflow. Based on my research the unit has a slow coolant leak. I am disappointed that such an expensive unit only lasted ~3 years. I really like the unit pump and wifi features but 3 years of life for such an expensive unit is unacceptable.

4 years in florida and running strong

I have had absolutely no trouble with this and think the wifi app works great. I use this in a 2nd home and it allows me to keep an eye on the humidity in my condo in florida. It has run daily for 4 years now and I will replace it with the same unit when the time comes. The pump feature is a necessity. It pumps up into a sink when Im away which often is 3-4 months. It also allows me to keep the a/c temperature set a little higher as this is doing much of the dehumidification. If youre looking to buy a dehumidifier dont look any further.
